3 Ways to Stay Healthy Working at a Desk

If you have a desk job or work from home, sitting all day is just the norm (unless you have a standing desk). It can be really hard to stay healthy when you’re sedentary all day. Today I’m going to share 3 ways to stay healthy working at a desk!

01. Eat nutritious snacks. When I worked at a desk all day in college, I would make sure to eat snacks that were good for me. It’s so important not to get caught up in all the free food at work and stick to your healthy snacks. Some of my favorites are apples with peanut butter, an orange, almonds, and smoothies. I also like to keep a bottle of water with me to ensure I’m staying hydrated!

02. Get up and move. If you work from home, I recommend setting a timer or whenever you finish a task, just get up and move. I like to take breaks from work and wash dishes, vacuum, or fold towels. This gets me up and moving around, so I’m not sitting in place all day. If the weather is nice, get out and take a short walk down the street!

03. Stretch. At my college desk job, I literally had to work at a table so low to the ground and a chair that only had one position. Let me tell you, it hurt! I was never comfortable and it made it really hard to focus on my tasks. To combat the uncomfortable seating position, I started stretching at my desk. It would help relieve some of the tension in my muscles. Sure, I got a few looks, but I recommend taking a moment to stretch!
